Festival of Bouquets

Dear Citizens,

During the next three weeks, we will be very busy in the Capital and the surrounding area. During the last week of Aprilis and the first two weeks of Maia, we hold the Festival of Bouquets.So what is the Festival of Bouquets? There will be so many fun activities during the next three weeks. I have written a list at the bottom of the scroll. I may have had a bit of time on my hands while we were battling the weather.

Enzo, Pasca, and Port Have had a record number of volunteers to help set up the festival's grounds. I think after the stretch of bad weather we just had there were a lot of people that wanted out of the house. The weather has been nice and I hope it will continue to be nice for the festival.

We will be celebrating all the wonderful scents and flavors of spring. That includes the pretty smelling flowers as well as the delicious garlic and onion-type vegetables.

Both St. Michael's and St. Clare's will have booths representing the schools as well as their churches.

I know this year we have a record number of new stands rented by a wide variety of people. I am looking forward to the new goods they will be selling.

Also, anyone entering the contest to be crowned Queen or Princess of the festival make sure you tell Miss Beaufort.

Janus is here once more and I find myself struggling with this month's update.

I may have had one too many mugs of mulled wine this evening. I realized that we don't know enough about each other or our lands. We are now in the Year of Our Lord 822 which has been a lot of years to get to know your neighbors. Sadly I think we all failed at that.

I am going to have to think of a celebration that will help fix that.

I hope everyone has a safe and prosperous 822. Maybe tomorrow when my head clears I will have a better idea.

I love Octo everyone knows that but I also secretly loathe it. It always reminds me that the end of the year is fast approaching. The cooler weather is nice. It is perfect weather for a stroll with someone special.

Speaking of spending time with a special someone Second Harvest Dance and Feast will be held at the carnival grounds. The decorating committee tells me it will be every bit as wonderful as it normally is.

Marie-Christine and Lohan tell me that next year they will happily go back to hosting the dinner dance.

Don't forget that All Hallow’s Eve is at the end of the month.

Dear Citizens,

We have once more found ourselves ready to enter the month of Septem.

The kids will be back in school in a few days. My mom always says that Septem has to be a low-key month otherwise people would kill each other long before Sinterklaas arrived. Sometimes I think she meant people with large families or small children underfoot.

I do have a bit of worrisome news to share. The Annual Second Harvest Dance and Feast may not happen this year. The Arnaud family has always generously provided us with the use of their barn and surrounding area. Can you call it a barn if it has never held animals or farm equipment?

Sadly, there was a small fire last week and the damage was worse than anyone had realized.
Marie-Christine and Lohan realized it would be easier to just build a new one.

Both Fathers Thomas and Daniel have offered their church hall for the night. There was some concern that some people would not be comfortable there.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know by the twenty-first of this month.

Welcome to Vine Fest!
I love this holiday. It has the largest assortment of tasty foods than any other holiday. I can remember one year for the first three days I ate nothing but pie. It was one of the best holiday weeks of my life.

Speaking of pie I am not one for gossip but I did hear that Emma La Rue may not be competing this year. I can not recall a year where she did not win the overall category for pie. I guess we will see at the judging. I wonder what else will happen this year?

Dear Citizens,

Once more we will celebrate the Feast of Forgiveness. Both Saint Michael's and Saint Clares will be open late through the holiday. Both churches asked me to remind everyone that it is not a contest to see who has the most or most creative pranks in their parish.

I don't think anything will top the time someone dressed old lady Hilda's favorite piglet in their youngest sister's best dress.

The year Sister Elizabeth found an empty classroom and no one had any idea where the things had gone.

I still say as long as no one gets hurt and everyone is a good sport then it should be fine.

Do me a favor and don't tell either Father Daniel or Thomas I said that.

Just remember after today we all have a clean slate.

Apparently, the miscreant is ill, so once again, I am tasked with addressing you all.

Given the exceptional harshness of this year's winter weather causing many to be more isolated than usual, and given the library is on of the few things that has remained consistently open, we have sectioned off a special sitting room for you all to talk to each other and more importantly, leave me alone.

Since the monsters of Sinterklaas maddness from the end of last year has not died down, I made a bigger, brighter sign for the MYTHS AND LEGENDS section. At this point I am considering hiring some wayward child to just guide people to it, but then I would have to deal with a child.

I suppose I should also remind you all the Dragon Fest will be upon us soon. You know what to do. (I actually rather like Dragon Fest.)

There is also a note here from the “Grand Ladies Society” asking me to remind everyone of their annual luncheon. So, if you are a woman of a certain age, there is that to look forward to. All that I ask is that you keep the “festivities” in whomever's house you are using this year. A naked young man running down the street being chased by hooting elderly women last year was just as terrifying for the onlookers as I am sure it was for the man in question.
